Earlier this year the Florida Mycological Society was founded, the goal initially was simple, to create a space to bring together those interested in learning and experiencing fungi. This is a vast Kingdom of Life with many new discoveries everyday. When we come together and share our knowledge and experience, more contributions to science can be made, fungi hold great potential for new information no matter how experienced or knowledgeable about a subject you are. Everyone from kids learning with the family to full mycologist and of course nature and biology enthusiasts have a home here.
We are currently hosting Monthly Club Meetings in the form of a group mushroom walk where a number of seasoned mushroom enthusiasts break down the findings for everyone to digest. We come across a ton of amazing mushrooms along our trail walks, document our findings and potentially curate some further work from there!
Joining the Florida Mycological Society is easy and costs only $35 annually and covers at least 12 walks, one per month, plus additional classes and events, the website is now live, at www.FloridaMycologicalSociety.com
